Last night at the WGA Intern Showcase, Student Interns presented what they learned this semester, and today is our last day of class! Each student composed a 6 word memoir to describe their internship experience and the celebrations and struggles along their journey.

Isaac: Everyone's experience expands educational efforts exponentially?

Hyban: Worked hard at my new desk!

Mariah: Fun with kids - became one too!

Fatuma: Life changing! Career starting! Amazingly wonderful!

Jennifer: Helpful and caring, yep that's me!

Ernesto: Why work on cars? Grease monkey!

Stefany: From 3rd floor to 8th, yay!

Yesenia: My first amazingly good life experience!

Checking in with: Fatuma

I believe that I am a professional everyday when at work.  Everything I do comes back to being professional at the Better Business Bureau.  The moment I start walking into the building to the second I sit at my computer.  Whether I'm helping assist with HR or Investigations, the workplace I'm in is all about professional etiquette.

Checking in with: Jennifer

Waking up on a Tuesday or a Thursday is always exciting for me! Knowing that later in the day I will be going to the VA to help out doctors and patients makes me feel good. It's always a surprise finding out what my transportation will be on those days (hahaha), but no matter what, I always get to my internship on time :). As soon as I get there along with 3 of my fellow classmates, we get smiles from ear to ear from everyone. It's always great! By the end of the day at the VA, my feet always hurt because of all the walking I do around the hospital. To me that just means that it was a productive afternoon :)

Intern Spotlight: Mariah

Hi everyone my name is Mariah! I have started an internship at Kids Adventure. At my internship, I am working with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. While I am there we play different games like tennis and handball. I am excited to be working with the kids and having fun. I hope to gain better leadership skills through this experience. I am anxious about the kids liking me. If you want to know more about my experience at Kids Adventure, keep following this blog!

Intern Spotlight: Stefany

First week at the internship, pretty exciting huh? Well it was! -Until I realized it doesn't exist anymore. I'm no longer at the medical examiners office. I'm not too sure what will happen from here, but I really want to continue with an internship, and at this point it doesn't really matter where I go, as long as it's cool. I talked to my supervisors and they were cool enough to at least try and hook it up. So basically I now might be going to the VA Hospital. I honestly can't see myself working at a hospital, but who knows? Maybe after these few weeks I'll change my mind. According to the other girls who are already at the VA, I'll be working in the Emergency Room attending the front desk, or escorting patients from room to room, and that'll count as my training to move deeper into another specific section of the hospital. I'm really exited to start, but nervous as well. Although I'm nervous, I can say it sounds really awesome, just stinks to start my internship after everyone else. So there goes my "first week"...

Intern Spotlight: Isaac

On Tuesday I woke up with the joy of knowing that today I was going to my internship. When I showed up to VISIONBOX, Jennifer and Nicole had a project to work on that was very engaging. They gave me a list of names of Drama teachers and their schools throughout Colorado, as well as their contact information.  My first task was to go to the school's main website and find out if the information was still valid. If not, I was told to update it. After about an hour and a half of that, I updated the information and began to work on my second task. The second task was a lot easier. I had to put the addresses of the different schools as well VISIONBOX’s address on envelopes. That took about 30-45 minutes, I organized about 13 folders in all. The last task was the easiest because all I had to do was put 12 flyers in each envelope, and that took me a little bit over 3:30 but it was cool to be finished with my tasks. I then left knowing that I could come back Thursday and start on something new.

Intern Spotlight: Yesenia

My day at the veterans hospital was amazing, and I learned a lot. Some of the things I got to do were escorting people to and from surgery and taking labs to the laboratory. My favorite thing about interning at the Veterans Hospital was that I got to open the doors with my I.D. card. It made me feel really important. One of my least favorite things was that I got really tired of walking up and down the stairs! I look forward to continuing my internship.
